Alpha Prisons Training Day

We would love to welcome you to our Alpha Prisons Training Day at Harbour Church Portsmouth Gunwharf (St. George’s Portsea) on Saturday 30th March 2019.

We are so excited to be able to host Alpha as they run this training! Especially as we start preparing to run our own Alpha in Prisons through our Prison Ministry.

We are so excited to be able to start this journey of exploring Alpha in a prison setting. One of the Prison Ministry’s main aims is to bring FREEDOM into the lives of those in prison.

Prisoners often experience a sense of loss and meaninglessness, and Alpha can give them a chance to ask life’s big questions and find out about the Christian faith in a safe, informal and friendly environment.

The aim of the training day is to equip those who are new to Alpha Prisons to run Alpha successfully in their local prison. For those who already have experience of Alpha in Prisons, we hope the event will serve as a refresher that will provide some new perspectives on running Alpha in a prison environment.

The training is mandatory if you want to come along and help with Alpha in Prisons  and even if you’ve never done any prison ministry work before but love Alpha, we’d love to see you!

During the training, we will cover the important security and safeguarding procedures you need to be aware of; as well as more practical sessions on how to lead small groups, how to give great live talks and how to pray for guests on Alpha.

Registration and coffee are at 9.30am, training will start at 10am and finish around 3.30pm. Training is free but please do book on so that we can accommodate for you.

Please follow this link; https://alpha.org.uk/events/prisons-training-portsmouth to book on and let us know you are coming!

We can’t wait to see you there!
