We are working in partnership with Portsmouth cathedral and a national charity called Volition to see the long-term unemployed given a helping hand back to work.
Volition works with local employers and colleges to offer unemployed people the opportunity to develop skills and the confidence they need to gain employment. They do this through an innovative volunteering programme supported by NESTA and the Cabinet Office.
Volition offers a 10-week structured programme of volunteering, tutoring/upskilling and mentoring with the aim that over 50% will secure paid employment and come off benefits. Clients on the volition programme are given work experience in Harbour Coffee House and Harbour Church, and members of the congregation volunteer to provide mentoring.
