Here’s a little update from Lauren about CFEO:
Since February this year, Lisa and I have been working away setting up connections with prisons, probation, other churches and charities in the area of Hampshire. We are delighted to be able to say we have made so much progress with this. The response from the prisons we are in touch with is incredibly encouraging. We are working with the probation service in Portsmouth to ensure that everything we do is safe and supported and we are also in touch with a couple of other charities who are sharing their wisdom and support with us.
We have also visited HMP Ford and attended one of their Sunday chapel services. We met with church leaders and volunteers from other churches to discuss how hosting a church service in prison works and we are going to be holding our own Harbour Church Portsmouth service at the end of November. This will be a really exciting opportunity for us as it will allow us to make connections with those inside that prison, as well as with the chaplaincy staff.
We're still recruiting for mentors, befrienders, practical supporters and prayer team. We would love to hear from you if you think you would like to be involved in anyway. Please get in touch by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or talking to somebody at the welcome wall on a Sunday!
